Semi-specified materials *(manga, magazines of manga)

 Special materials that require prior permission to view.

  • You can read manga at the Center for International Children’s Literature. They are mainly written for children under 15. Please handle them with care because all of them are very valuable materials about children’s culture.

How to use

  • Please apply at least one day before you would like to use the materials.
    In case that you apply after 4:30pm or on holidays, you may have to wait for a little while on the next day. We open archives at 9:15am.

  • You can read the materials in the reading room on the day you designated.
  • Children younger than junior high school student must be accompanied by a guardian.
  • Bring your ID or valid library card.
  • Fill in a request form for semi-specified materials.
  • We may not be able to accept your request if other users have requested the same materials on the same day.
  • We do not limit the number of materials. However, please request materials that you can finish reading in one day.
  • If you request a large number of materials, we deliver materials 15 at a time.

Types and open-stack codes

Application

    State your name, address, telephone number, the date you visit the facility, and the information of materials (tittle, issue numbers, published date, etc.).
  • Website: Search by OPAC. Click “Add to Cart” on the material detail page. You need your user card number and password. If you do not have a user card, you need to apply for a “web limited user.” Please see “log in” in the user menu.

Reference service

  • If you have problems with your research, please feel free to talk to the attendant at the desk.
  • We also accept your request and inquiry by telephone, FAX,  letters and on the internet e-reference*.

Copying

  • Copying of materials is permitted within a certain range under Article 31 of the Copyright Act.
  • In order to protect the copyright and to preserve materials, the attendants will copy materials. You may not copy materials by yourself.
  • In order to preserve materials, we cannot press them against the copy machine.
    Depending on the binding of a material, its copies may be distorted or faded around the binding, which unfortunately we cannot remedy.
  • We may decline to copy fragile or damaged materials.
  • Depending on conditions in the copying room, we may not be able to deliver your copies on the day.
